Exemplar Tips

Some of the Mistakes Made by Many of  Ussmiley

 1.   Many of the kids didn’t support their work with mathematical thinking and ideas.

Example:

Incomplete answer: 24 books in total

Complete answer:  There were 24 books in total because I was given information about shelves and the books on them.  There were 3 shelves and each shelf held 8 books.  I multiplied 3 times 8 and got an answer of 24.

2.   Many of the kids only showed only one way of solving instead of two ways to solve.

Incomplete answer:  3 X 8 = 24

Complete answer:  (two or more of these to support each other)

                                  3 X 8 = 24

                                 Shelf 1 ////////

                                Shelf 2 ////////

                                Shelf 3 ////////

                                 8 + 8 + 8 = 24

                                 8 x 3 = 24

                                 24 / 8 = 3

                                24 / 3 = 8

                                 X x 8 = 24    X = 3
